My favorite part is the dragon's "definition of insanity" level of persistence shown by the sheer number of bottles having the same fate. It's inspiring in a way! Great visual storytelling.

Cruel irony has it, the papers in the bottles are vouchers for cork screw openers.

Lovely job - deserving of the cover! :)

ArtDeepMind responds:

Thank you very much, you describe it way better than me.

Honestly this is a pretty awesome style! Love how it actually has life to it even though it's a rigid CAD model. Nice work!

It would be really cool to see your creatures fully rigged and animated in an isometric game or animation :) Or I'm sure there's a way to stylize this into a full artwork, whether it would be by flattening it into textured stained glass piece with a starry glass background, or by carefully converting it to pixel art with a limited desaturated palette or something. It had me thinking, so I like it.

RongYuigh responds:

I'm more of an artist than a game maker, by the way. But who knows? The next person to read your comment might catch up on the idea.

Oh my goodness Crystal this is so adorable :D I love your addition of the BEANS haha <3 🐾
How did you make an animation? I haven't seen that from you before :)

Crystal-1534 responds:

Glad you like it! It was fun to do, and it's the first time I've done something like this :) The background and table are not white but I like it better that way.

I made it in Paint Tool Sai. I don't know what is the right way to "animate". Anyway.

This year I want to do more stuff like this ;D

Heyy another really great piece!

I like the parchmenty feel you have going on here. It makes it feel like someone is out on the field documenting these rare critters on a sketchbook. The partially monochromatic palette adds to that a lot imo. Plus, that gold+black+blue combo is super royal - perfect for this royal rhinobeetledragon!

Also, nice ant-for-scale ;)
Good night!

ArtDeepMind responds:

Another great feedback from you, thank you very much, I can tell you really see my intentions with these.

You went in a really cool, creative direction with it! I like how you approached the head.
I'm curious what the intended scale of this creature is?

ArtDeepMind responds:

Yeah, that was tricky part, the scale, I just put a bigger common leaves on the ground for the scale, so something like a lizard probably in terms of size.

Always a fan of Smaugust, particularly for the really creative concepts like these from talented artists like yourself. Love the unexpected creature combinations - I've certainly never seen a mole dragon before :)
Truly well done so far! And best of luck with the rest of the month!

RoseredTiger responds:

Thanks, I'm trying to get a bit more creative with m dragons, so this is a great opportunity for that

I really like it! The colors are great imo, and the style change in the water really adds a lot to it.

Great work! Happy Pixel Day!! :)

Urichov responds:

Thank you. This one was really fun to do.

Woah this is awesome!! I'm loving the details of this, and the concept is really surrealish :) Definitely something that doesn't quite fit this era... which I mean as a compliment of course! The lighting is nice too!

I'm wondering, what was your inspiration for this?

PixelPenn responds:

I'm glad you like it! I was going for surrealism, so glad that worked out. And for the inspiration, I'm not entirely sure, but I began by wondering what it would look like for a man to have the world he sees painted into his eyes.

Awesome work!! I really love the colors and composition! It's such a freezingly calm blue haha. The silhouettes are readable and moody, so you definitely pulled off this style very nicely.

Happy Pixel Day!

(Side-note: in the second tree layer I think there are a couple color mix-ups - definitely nothing important, it's just something I wanted to bring to your attention if you refine this)

SouredApple responds:

think I fixed it, thanks!

What an awesome mushroom serpent dragon dude! :D I wish I could sport a mustache like that lol!
I like the style you put into this: using a cooled color palette with a rather sparkly dithering technique makes this feel very magical and mysterious. :)

Have a very happy Pixel Day!

Silberregen responds:

oh thank you very much <3
